Information about the Rogue Wolves website
Rogue Wolves is the software consulting website of Scott Langevin. This site serves as a professional space for Scott to advertise his consulting services as well as provide a space for technology discussion.
Scott graduated from the University of Victoria in British Columbia with a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science. Since that time he has worked as a System Consultant and Software Engineer. He has been involved in web development for over eight years. His area of expertise is in architecting and developing web applications particularly using the Microsoft .NET framework.
Scott previously worked as a system consultant for Wenco Systems Ltd. where he was involved in the design and implementation of software solutions for Wenco’s clients. The position eventually shifted to the re-architecting of the companies flag ship product PACT, a contract management and workflow system, as an ASP.NET web application. Scott quickly became the company .NET expert and helped transition the company as a .NET consulting agency to other development firms. This included being responsible for holding training sessions in ASP.NET for clients and leading core system architecture design and development.
Scott and his wife moved to South Carolina in 2004 where he worked as a software engineer for Impact Technologies Group Ltd. He became an important part of the User Interface Team working with cutting edge technologies that required extensive research with steep learning curves. During this time Scott further advanced his knowledge of web application development with the .NET framework while helping the company enhance and integrate their financial planning system.
Scott excels at learning rapidly and continually tries to improve his skills by keeping up with technology and methodologies. He believes strongly in the Internet as a platform and is excited by the emergence of web 2.0.

We strongly believe that software should meet the needs of those who use it. Cookie cutter solutions suffer from two main problems:
Rather than pay for expensive software or services that doesn't meet all your needs, why not hire someone who can create a custom-built solution that fits the bill?
We are committed to making sure all solutions we provide meet your needs and satisfy your requirements. If you don't know what your particular requirements are, we will help you identify those with a forward looking strategy. When you are happy, we are happy.
We can't stress this enough. There is a vast amount of free, high quality software out there, taking advantage of it can drastically reduce development time and improve quality overall. Why create something from scratch that a community of developers have been crafting for years?
We leverage Open Source software where ever it is appropriate and makes sense. This lowers costs for you and speeds up project time.
What's the point of having a fancy web site/application if it will only work correctly in a specific browser? Adhering to current web standards such as XHTML and CSS results in easier to maintain sites and applications, thereby lowering support and maintenance costs. Our standards-based approach separates presentation from content, which greatly improves web page markup. These streamlined pages are much smaller in size, lowering your bandwidth usage. Other benefits include increased accessibility by non-traditional devices such as PDAs and cell phones. Also, an interesting side benefit is that standards-based web pages are search engine optimized, increasing your site's visibility to the world.
We employ the latest web standards in our development which lowers maintenance costs for you, increases accessability and helps improve your search engine rankings.
At Rogue Wolves we strive to keep up with the latest technological advancements. Our ongoing research and development allows us to test drive new technologies and discover how they can be utilized and integrated into our solutions.
Our development strategies incorporate any of the following technologies: ASP.NET/ASP, PHP, Javascript, MS SQL, MySQL, Oracle, Web Services and many more. We will work with your technology requirements. If we feel we aren't experienced enough to achieve your goals we will disclose that to you so you can find someone that is.
Our goal is to keep up with the latest advancements, and maintain a platform independent development team.

Impact Technologies is an industry leader in financial analysis and planning software. Impact excels at incorporating cutting edge technology into their products and focuses strongly on increasing productivity and ease to use.
While working at Impact Technologies I was an important member of the user interface team. My role was to research and incorporate latest technologies into Impacts financial planning suite PlanLab. During this position I architected several software frameworks to ease development and maintenance. Another focus was to re-architect PlanLab into an extensible modular system. The highlight of this position was the development of a web-based dynamic data acquisition system designed to be a drop-in replacement for Microsoft InfoPath.
Wenco is a systems development and consulting organization, providing innovative and cost effective solutions. Their particular expertise is in project management, workflow and systems design and integration.
This position required me to work closely with project managers and IT departments to provide custom contract management software (PACT) to Wenco’s clients. The development cycle of these custom solutions involved analyzing requirements and devising detailed specifications and designs. The development stage included creating database models, user interfaces, business logic and interfacing into existing third-party database applications. Installation required visits to the client’s site and performing a database conversion routine from previous versions of PACT. In addition I was required to provide support to clients IT departments. In addition I was involved with re-designing Wenco’s workflow systems as an integrated .NET web application. This new system centralized all the systems and can be easily customized with the added benefit of low deployment costs and increased usability.
