PROFILE

I am currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science from the University of South Carolina. My research interests are in Artificial Intelligence, specifically probabilistic reasoning and multi-agent systems. I am also interested in expert systems, data mining, and service oriented computing. My undergraduate and professional background is in Software Engineering where I have over six years of industry experience. I am focused on pursuing a career in Industrial Research and Development advancing the state of the art. I excel at software design and development, prototyping, and rapidly learning new concepts. I have a passion for the computing field.

2008-PRESENT: RESEARCH ASSISTANT, SMARTHOME PROJECT

SENIORSMART CENTER FOR ECONOMIC EXCELLENCE, COLUMBIA, SC

  • Researched existing state of art of human fall detection
  • Provided technical recommendations for project
  • Constructed a pattern recognition system using vibration data from simulations for fall detection

While working at Impact Technologies I was an important member of the user interface team. My role was to research and incorporate latest technologies into Impacts financial planning suite PlanLab.  During this position I architected several software frameworks to ease development and maintenance.  Another focus was to re-architect PlanLab into an extensible modular system.  The highlight of this position was the development of a web-based dynamic data acquisition system designed to be a drop-in replacement for Microsoft InfoPath.

2001-2004: SYSTEMS CONSULTANT

WENCO SYSTEMS LTD., VICTORIA, BC

(Wenco is a systems development and consulting organization, providing innovative and cost effective solutions. Their particular expertise is in project management, workflow and systems design and integration.)

This position required me to work closely with project managers and IT departments to provide custom contract management software (PACT) to Wenco's clients.  The development cycle of these custom solutions involved analyzing requirements and devising detailed specifications and designs.  The development stage included creating database models, user interfaces, business logic and interfacing into existing third-party database applications. Installation required visits to the client's site and performing a database conversion routine from previous versions of PACT.  In addition I was required to provide support to clients IT departments. In addition I was involved with re-designing Wenco's workflow systems as an integrated .NET web application.  This new system centralized all the systems and can be easily customized with the added benefit of low deployment costs and increased usability.

  • Design and Architect next version of PACT as a web application in .NET.
  • Replace existing work request and release systems and fully integrate with PACT.
  • Designed a distributed object oriented framework for ease of system development by junior developers.

OA SOLUTIONS, Victoria, BC

(An Information Management and Information Technology consulting company providing services to Federal, Provincial and Municipal government in Canada)

  • Performed several training sessions in ASP.NET to get OA Solutions development team up to speed.
  • Architected system design for the Health Cross Jurisdictional Database System (this system aids federal and provincial governments to project and track actual costs in the Health sector).
  • Provided development of core system.
  • Provided support to OA Solutions senior and junior developers.

  • Assisted development of the Student Outcomes Reporting System (SORS).
